Re: Please Post Your Forums Issues - June/July 2004!

I suggest we rename this thread the June-July Issues Thread.

Starting a July thread this far into the month is pointless.

I honestly don't know how this guy thought a 'Secure OS for Linux' category was good for Win '98 with Win 2K servers..

It boggles the mind sometimes..

This thread could go away - it's another example of the confusion between "Reply" and "New Message"!!!!

Re: Please Post Your Forums Issues - June/July 2004!

It would be nice if there was a way to see which responses you have not assigned points to. Presently when you go to your Forums Profile you see a line similar to:

I have assigned points to 81 of 82 responses to my questions.

The problem is finding that 1 response that you didn't assign points to without having to look through all the questions.

Its not a huge deal, but I like to make sure everyone gets the points they deserve.

David,

Go to your profile and look at the bottom of the screen where you will see a section "My questions".

Second row down is posts with unassigned answers.

Re: Please Post Your Forums Issues - June/July 2004!

Congrats to Stuart Browne on his 5000th Linux forum point. No thread, the next set will be when He makes Linux Pharoh.

I must (or self importantly think I must) jump on the bandwagon concerning inadvertant threads being created by attempts to hit the reply button.

I find myself responding to what I think is a thread, but is actually a response. There must be something we can do to cut down on that. Education doesn't seem to help, so some design changes in the page layout seem warranted, something like what Pete Randall suggests.

Hi,

I agree with SEP. This should be a breeze to replace the new message with start new question, or?

Re: Please Post Your Forums Issues - June/July 2004!

Hi Michael and Steven,

We are planning on a new button called "start new thread", and will place it to the left of "notify me". The "reply" button will be to the far right. Hopefully, this will do it. Look for it in about 4 weeks with a few other things, fingers crossed.

Thanks,
Dan

Re: Please Post Your Forums Issues - June/July 2004!

If this isn't a HP test....

http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=642857

We should probably nuke it after an appropriate interval.

If it is an HP test, I guess also, but the timing might need to be different.

Re: Please Post Your Forums Issues - June/July 2004!

Stuart, thanks...was nice and relaxing.

SEP, trying to find someone to help with the software depot issue. Also, the test thread was non-HP and was removed.

Thanks,
Dan
