Re: Please Post Your Forums Issues - May 2004!
Apologies for that...
A possible reason for you getting a 404 on that thread is that there was no text just an attachement..
it's fixed now,
Cheers,
Gary

Re: Please Post Your Forums Issues - May 2004!
Another thing noticed. The new search (more options) is quite good, only after the search the chosen category is emptied again. When I need to re(de)fine my search, I need to change the category again.
Jasper, who hasn't read the other suggestions, so might have a duplicate suggestion

If its still not summarized enough, please nuke the post and I'll go back to the drawing board.

No methods so far have produced even a reply from the Forum staff, save the auto-generated one.
I have since re-registered and now have a handle-which I will request to be deleted once I am able to log on to my original (with the flashy icon !)

Perhaps do the previous poster a favor and get rid of his email address when you contact him.
My skin crawls as the spam miners invisibly collect the address.

Re: Please Post Your Forums Issues - May 2004!
I was doing a search this morning and I came across this thread from three years ago:
http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=5842
One of the responses by our esteemed Mr. Bill Hassell seems to have been replaced by the entry from the previous post. I hold all of Mr. Hassell's postings in the highest regard, and I hate the thought of losing any of his pearls of wisdom. Is this something that can be corrected or is his post lost, and could it be happening to other threads?
JP
P.S. It is a compliment to Dan and his team that I had to go searching for the Issues thread. It used to stay bubbled up on the first page.
P.P.S. I notice that Dan is only a few points shy of joining the Pointy Hat Club. Who will get to do the honors? ;)

Re: Please Post Your Forums Issues - May 2004!
Yea - I noticed that as well my friend.
This thread had slipped down to the 4th or 5th page.
But then YOU had to go ping it up 8~()
Maybe everybody's just mellowing out now that Spring is in full bloom.
Have a great Holiday weekend JP.
Cheers,
Jeff

Looks like the programmers have to fix that one, not a moderator.

Re: Please Post Your Forums Issues - May 2004!
Whenever I right click on any link posted in the reply I am unable to open the link in a new window. I have to copy the link location and open a new browser window and then paste the link there. There is shows some java error. Can this be looked into?

Re: Please Post Your Forums Issues - May 2004!
Whenever u right click and say to open in a new window, u will get the javascript error because, in forums the links are run thru a javascript function in the pageand they themself open in a new window.
Also the error is because the javascript function will not be present in the new window.
This is how it works..

Re: Please Post Your Forums Issues - May 2004!
I think that is more a browser issue rather than a Forums issue. I have no problems with links in posts. I am using Opera 7.50.

Jeff, agree, it is good to see the issues reports fall off.
Mahish, looks like you've gotten some help from Ganesh and Patrick - good going guys.

Re: Please Post Your Forums Issues - May 2004!
looking at your profile I assume SEP just wants you to earn the points from this solution in your favorite area and not elsewhere.
BTW "points" !
Anyone in posession of an unpointed answer from Dan ? Just 4 points for him to become wizzard.
Keep it going !

Re: Please Post Your Forums Issues - May 2004!
You are tough.
You have probably forgotten more about Linux than I know. You certainly know more than I.
The point totals in Linux are because you probably have more meaningful things to do with your time than I.
I want you to know. I respect you. I read your posts carefully, and I keep reminding myself to find your post that shows how to rebuild an rpm from the src rpm and try it out on tripwire so maybe it works right in Linux.
Thanks to you Stuart for setting the standard in Linux that all other posters above and below strive to meet.

Re: Please Post Your Forums Issues - May 2004!
Thanks.
It'd be nice if your statement about what I've forgotten was true, but I highly doubt it. You're like a sponge! Stuff just keeps going in. But I guess I'm like you in that manner, I'm constantly learning.
As for the knowing more thing, I've just been at it for longer. You'll surpass me soon enough.
I think the slow points gain on my side is because of time zone things. By the time I get to log in of a morning, the 10-15 US questions have been posted, and answered. I get to do follow up and a few odds and ends. I honestly don't know how Michael Tully has got as far as he has. Much patience I guess :)
Again, thank you.
I'm just gonna go hide now ;P

Re: Please Post Your Forums Issues - May 2004!
At times when I click the "reply" button I get an error saying "could not connect (404)". Now I do not have the exact error messabe but in the last two days this happens quiet ofetn. What could be the reason for this.
