Re: Please Report Forums Issues - February 2002!

How about the issue of having the original post on the same page as the reply to message page? I know this has been asked before, but dont know if its in the works.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - February 2002!

Thanks for your feedback.....!

Robert, including the original message in or around the reply box is a planned enhancement. I don't have an estimated ETA at this time.

Ron, nice idea. If you have yet to try it, each forum category family page lists all messages posted in all subcategories. For instance, the HP-UX family page will show you most recent threads in all sub areas at:
http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/FamilyHome/1,,117,00.html

Also, if you have yet to, go to your forums profile and select "areas of interest" in the categories you want to participate within. You will receive an email digest of new threads started within each area. Please note, we have been experiencing issues with the delivery system, but the developers are working on it now.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - February 2002!

Hi Dan,

Can you consider including a link within the HP-UX forums section pointing to the Storage disk array section? (and probably some other related sections too ) ?
Most of the admins look through hp forums and unless there is a issue which needs to be resolved, the other sections are generally not visited, so we get lesser responses. Maybe, if you keep a link, traffic will improve further on key sites like disks, SAN .. which are a key component of sysadmin.

thanks

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - February 2002!

Could you consider making the reply option a bit smarter? If I reply to a post for which I have asked for notification on there is really no need for it to send me a message saying that someone has replied.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - February 2002!

Hi Dan,
I've noticed this before ... and paid no attention to it. But this morning I had to make a reply twice so here goes.
I open an Internet Explorer, go to the forums, login as BR665223, open a thread ... and then I want to give an answer. However, I need to verify something. Not wanting to loose the reply box I start a second Internet Explorer session, go to ITRC once again, do NOT login, go to the searchengine, start a search, find what I wanted to verify, swap to the reply again (leaving the second Internet Explorer open) and post the reply.

And now the "fun" part. The reply seems to get posted, but I also get a "first time user" message. When I look up the reply in the original message ... it's NOT there. So I close the second Internet Explorer, "backbutton" to the reply screen and post it once again. I now get the "normal" reply screen (without the "first time user" message) and the reply goes to the message.

I have a feeling this is a cookie-issue ...

Hi Dan,

in the last few days, I had several times problems to login here, which I need when I want to reply for a posting. This occurs only in the afternoon hours, middle european time here, I live in germany.

Allways stay on the bright side of life!

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - February 2002!

Still getting problems with
links being posted as
europe-support or us-support

can you not make it so that the URLs at least will redirect based on user login..

(PS: this is why there are multiple Bill McNAMARAs in the forum.. one for the US and one for Europe.. any chance of converting my points to the Real Bill!)

THe layout for the postings seems to have gone a bit astray on the following post.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - February 2002!

Hi Shiju and Harry,

Hopefully, everyone who has been shut out for the past two hours will read this before posting a reply. Evidently, there was a problem with an Internet Redirector at the data center. So, although the application was performing fine, the network was not. Much like when your car is running well, but the road crew is holding you up. :)

We should all still experience the same great performance we have recently been seeing. Personally, I am very pleased with how things are operating, and I hope you are too.

For those of you who have yet to signoff for the week, have a great weekend.

Dan

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - February 2002!

Hi All,

Thanks for the feedback...here's what I can offer:

RajMan, I've added the requested URL to the bottom of the HPUX pages under "useful links"

Ron, good idea. I experience this as well. I'll add it to the list of things to get done.

Tom, sounds like a cookie issue, but I'll talk with the developers and see what I can find out. Thanks for the detailed reply.

Peter, thanks for your note.

Bill, I'll see what I can do about your accounts...not sure how I can go about combining them. By the way, which account is the "real" Bill? Europe or US? Also, the link for Stuart's bio is working at this end -- still having trouble?

George, thanks for the tip on the formatting of the reply. I've seen that a few times and have reported it to the support team. Regarding the "first time user" issue, see above reply to Tom.

Thanks again,
Dan

I'm seeing a much greater delay when loading the main It resource center forums page then when I go to one of the forums or read one of the posts.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - February 2002!

Dan-

I have been having a devil of a time posting stuff here today. I tried to post a response to my own thread http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,,0xeb84b47b9a27d6118ff40090279cd0f9,00.html , and it kept shifting between "server not found- DNS error" and http404 error. Then I went to do points, and I could do some and then not others (same errors). Eventually, I got them all assigned. I tried to post here, but got the same thing, but now it works. Not sure what's going on here, but thought I'd let you know. Thanks.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - February 2002!

Got another suggestion for you. We need an option to delete or edit a post. Sometimes you realize after pushing the submit button that you made a major blunder (as in the recent Crowing instead of Crowning post) and other times you get two because the first post seems to have failed and you resubmit only to have multiple copies show up.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - February 2002!

Harry, looks like bt's telehouse router bit the dust this morning, i was having the dt's as well.

http://www.internettrafficreport.com/cgi-bin/tr_chartpage.pl?Europe

Half way down is the bt router with 100% packet loss (this is a delayed report downtime start around 7.00am 26/02/02), think this is the link to chicago or washington.

I work for an isp and we had a lot of problems with international traffic today.

Have fun

Hello,

Today (26/02/02), the forums were down from 8.00 till 16.00 CET. Whenever I tried to access the forums, the nice "This page cannot be displayed" occurred. Now it's working fine.
