Re: Please Report Forums Issues - November 2003!

How about reversing the order (most recent first) on the my profile page. This is the way it worked prior to the major overhaul of the forum.

I connect onto my profile page first, and all I see is the same 10 oldest responses.

Otherwise I've gotten use to the new layout.

Keep up the good work...

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - November 2003!

Show the poster's name in the reply window.

Need the old functional search engine back.

In the member's Forum Profile please change the ordering of most popular postings back to LIFO by date. Now all the congratulatory threads are at the top, while the most important require a long drill down. This provides no utility whatsoever making the members list of response useless and pointless.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - November 2003!

Hi Dan/Pete,

Netscape 4.73 under W$ also is not working properly. I can view my profile and the forums but no threads.
I know it's not the latest version but I don't get a newer one!

Curiously a few threads are viewable (see the attachment)

Dates of moved postings reflect the date of the move. So postings several days old display the incorrect info.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - November 2003!

Dan,

At the risk of sounding somewhat self-serving, I have to bring something up that bothers me a little bit.

I have gone back and looked through my user profile recently and I see that you have at least addressed the issue of getting the â my solution(s)â section to reflect some of the most recent bunnies that a person has been awarded instead of some of the first ones. While this is all good in theory, I would have to say that there are still some glitches in the system somewhere.

When I look at the 10 replies that are listed on the overall profile page and then go into the â moreâ area, I see that there is a definite discrepancy in the two lists. Is there some way to get this straightened out?

I know Iâ m a bit of a point hunter (but not as bad as at least one of the salad heads out there, right Pete?), but what is listed in my profile right now makes it look worse than it really is. Any way you and your people could clean this up for me (and, Iâ m sure, for others as well)?

Many thanks,
John

Hmmmâ ¦

Now it looks like I have another question. I wonder why it cut off the lat part of my previous post? I even previewed it prior to posting and it was all there prior to hitting the â submitâ button. Strange.

The last part of the line should have been:

â progress with that issue?â

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - November 2003!

Hi,

Ralf Puchner has this line in his profile:
I have assigned points to 0 of -1 responses to my questions.

again: antimatter or is it just a quantum fluctuation? ;-)

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - November 2003!

Ralf responded to a question that was subsequently removed by the moderators for some reason. That's how he got to "0 of -1". I've seen it a couple of times now.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - November 2003!

Dan -
As most do, we depend heavily upon the archives.
Recently, in searching we have found posts with code inserted in the posting. For reasons above my comprehension, the [ ] in the code postings have been replaced by [ and &#93.

After finally realizing this we can easily interpret the posts, but I was concerned as to why?

Best regards,

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - November 2003!

Dan,

Ignorant Exploder 6.0-SP1

For the past 3 days, I have been getting an error pop-up that states an illegal request has been made, and do I want to debug (to which I say no).
After that, my Fonts all double in size, and I occasionally start getting increasing volumes of garbage text on top of the page.

Wouldn't you know it, it has been doing it for 4 days straight, but now it isn't.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - November 2003!

Hi Dan,

I would change the font used to display the Q&Replies. Sometimes it gets difficult to read through when some text is pasted from a console/terminal output. Instead, I propose to use an evenly-spaced font such as "verdana" or "courier new".

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - November 2003!

Hi Michael,

the assignment of the points is counted by ITRC, also the question is removed.
But in Ralf's profile it's really curious:
assignment: 0 question: -1

Well - maybe because he's a 'insider' ;-)

Pete,

I would like, but "I'm allowed to" use M$ products. No chance to install anything by myself.
By the way, that's the thread Michael is talking about:

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - November 2003!

Just now 12:42-12:45 Central I got a bunch of service unavailable warnings while trying to post an answer.

More disturbing was I tried to check my post in another tab and everyone's point totals were a little light.

Then things returned to normal.

Anyone care to explain to me what was going on? Backups. Perhaps I should see my eye doctor.

Whatever, I've got a box to patch and I'm going to sleep now.
