Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for January 2003!
Having just upgraded my HP-UX Netscape from 4.79 to 7.0, I can tell you that, under 4.79, the links used to open in a new window, a feature I sorely miss.

Phoenix and Mozilla support this. And Opera too, though Opera opens these links in a new window too.

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for January 2003!
Sorry, shift-click doesn't seem to do anything. Ctrl-click will open a new window with the javascript:openExternal('http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,,0xa89cafe90f1cd71190050090279cd0f9,00.html') in the URL box, but that obviously doesn't do anything, either.
I'm open to other suggestions - short of downgrading to 4.79!

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for January 2003!
I have had the same problem when attempting to assign points to answers on the forums. I always chalked it up to an IE problem (lord knows they have enough of them!), but if it is happening to others then perhaps it is something that needs to be addressed.
I do know it gets agravating to try to thank someone for their time and effort only to find out you have to do it again...

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for January 2003!
There have been other users that have reported the assign point problem (two times to make it take). Oddly, I assign points quite often and they always take on the first attempt. I never use the "back" button to review them, instead I use the provided links back to the message. I'm using IE5.5 for the moment. I did report this to the lab and a patch to help with this is planned for release soon.

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for January 2003!
Had a request for a visio drawing.
After attaching it to the response, found it could not be saved or opened.
How does one handle this?

Zipped the visio (which was less than 1mb to begin with.
Still a no go.
It's in the planning forum, key word visio.

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for January 2003!
It seems as if it is taking longer and longer for the notifications about replies to questions (a.k.a. discussion topics) to come in from the forum. I expect a lag of sorts since this site enjoys a large amount of traffic, but the delays for me are getting to be in ranges of hours instead of minutes.
A prime example of this would be the notification that I just received on postings to this thread. There hasn???t been one to it since the last one that I put on there and I???m still getting random notifications about new posts to this thread.
Am I the only lucky one or are others experiencing the same thing?

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for January 2003!
Could anybody explain how I could follow a link in the mail client (which opens a whole new browser window since the browser was closed at the time I clicked it) and come up with a page that isn???t current?
BTW- Dan,
I don???t use the back button to go view my threads after I assign points either. I would expect that to give me wrong information since it???s going to pull it from cache most of the time..

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for January 2003!
Don't want to sound like I'm harping on this, but this issue with not receiving e-mail notification has just bitten me in a big way.
I had posted an issue earlier today and was really needing to get some responses to this issue in hopes of having the issue resolved prior to leaving today. I was getting quite depressed by the fact that nobody had chosen to reply since 16:56 PM GMT. I was beginning to think that it wasn't meant for me to get this question answered today.
I just went back to it on my own to make sure and found 6 additional replies that I was never notified of!
What do the web gurus have to say on this? Am I the only one?

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for January 2003!
I get struck quite often with 'dropouts' of the Forums from the search criteria. Usually a resubmit of the search will bring up Forum Postings again, but it is still a little disconcerting.
Thanks, Ian Dennison

Me, too: 404's!
And I'll second John's comments about e-mail notifications. I've got 3 congratulatory threads that are still active and I get notified *maybe* 50% of the time. It's not that they're just slow - some of them just never happen, while others do. Very odd.

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for January 2003!
I'd like someone at HP to answer the following questions, because they burn in my mind.
What hardware does itrc run on?
OS?
httpd server and version?
In spite of constant slowness and recent outages, I think its a very reliable setup and would like to learn more about it without compromising HP's security.
Thanks.
No points, just curious Steve.

As others have noted this morning, the ITRC web site is running as smoothly as a William Shatner monologue.
Can't <404>...seem..<404>..to..<404>..get a...<404>...page..<404>....loaded!

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for January 2003!
I'm glad to know the blizzard isn't confined to the west side of the Atlantic, although I understand its snowing in the UK. ;-)
Dan, The proportion of SSI seems to have increased in the last few hours. It's not uncommon for me to get an SSI followed by a 404 and then finally the thread on refresh. That makes a 2/3 error ratio!
Regards!
