Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for November 2002

Hi Dan,

Around march 2001 I posted a reply to a request for C-class drive rails, I sent a few pairs to a few people States side at my own expense, and in my post I stated (stupidly!) that I had hundreds!!! (I did add the ;-) out of interest)

I am *OUT*! I recieved my last mail from a nameless and faceless forummer last week, and sent my last 3 pairs... can I get my answer to the original post removed....? Please?

Please put your online "post-removing-address" on again, as I do not want to put the original posts online....If I can find them!

Ta,

Hi Marc,

Please post the URL you are speaking about in this thread. You can find the reply you posted by clicking on your name and then in your profile clicking on "more" under replies. You can also search the forums using your name and relevant keywords.

Once you post your thread URL here, I can see that it gets edited to let everyone know you are out of the rails.

Thanks,
Dan

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for November 2002

Dan,

I'm still having to submit points several times before they "stick".

The last thread I had to submit them 3 times, over about 2 hours before they finally showed up in the thread.

Hi Dan,

After posting my first answer today (which went fine), I had troubles returning to the forums. I've received the following answer a few times:

'Error processing SSI file '/cm/CategoryHomeContent/1,11869,LoggedIn!251,00.html''

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for November 2002

Asigning points in http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,,0x08a63a1c04ffd61190050090279cd0f9,00.html took me 4 attempts with Opera 7 of which none accepted the points though all four attempts showd a conformation. An additional three attempts from Opera 6 did the trick.

FWIW Opera 7 still gives 404's on all first attempts for replies, but since it's the only browser that acts this way, it might be Opera's misbehaviour

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for November 2002

Dan,

If I didn't tell you before, I should have: I really like having the "notify", "reply" and "new message" buttons available at the bottom of the message. Much better than having to scroll all the way back to the top.

NOW! - If only the navigation buttons, like "IT resource center forums > hp-ux > general" for example, could be repeated at the bottom of the post, I could stop wearing out my mouse and life would be perfect (or at least nearly so).

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for November 2002

Dan,

Along those same lines, when I'm assigning points to responses, if I hit reply, either by mistake or on purpose, all of my points assignments disappear. Do you think the function of the submit button could be incorporated into the reply button if there's points in the boxes?

Been unable to asign points for the past hour. With /any/ browser. Timeouts, redirects, endless waits, but no points. Sorry.

Netscape 4.79, that comes with most HP-ux versions, will not display certian URLs at the ITRC. An example of this is http://h20004.www2.hp.com/keeper_rnotes/bsdmatrix/matrix88837en_US.html

Just replied to the congratulatory thread for Harry

http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/PostAnswer/0,,0x72a73a1c04ffd61190050090279cd0f9,00.html

The browser bar at the bottom of the screen completed, and the Done message appeared in the status bar, but I still have my response window on screen. The reply has been accepted by the system.

I'll let you know if the same happens with this reply.

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for November 2002

OK,

No problems on my reply here. I'd left the "problem" reply on another session while I posted the error here, and after a few minutes, it updated to show the "thanks for your continued...." screen, so it looks like it was just some network delay somewhere.

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for November 2002

This forum is just great !

However, I wish if following could be added...

1. Somehow the moderator of the thread or the Questioner should be able to delete or "throw out" the completely incorrect , irrelevant or misleading responses, to keep the whole thread meaningful.

2. Auto spell-check of all messages

3. While in "reply" mode, enable the scroll bar to see all previous messages

4. If the Questioner needs HP or pros of the forum to validate certain answer, he should be able to make such request and there could be special price points for such response from pros

Oh, That's enough work !

http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,,0x62b53a1c04ffd61190050090279cd0f9,00.html showed one reply in the list, but the thread itself had neither body nor reply nor redirect. Did I catch it during a cleanup, or is this the new way of redirecting us :-P

Hi Dan,

I must be having dejavu...

Here is another posting where my first reply has been posted before my second. The *really* strange thing is that I actually read the posting after I placed it (1st one) to see if I could add anything else. and no I'm not going senile in my old age.... (at least not as old as Harry! )

Regards
Michael

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for November 2002

There appears to be a problem with this thread

http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,,0xb2b73a1c04ffd61190050090279cd0f9,00.html

The details suggest that there has been some kind of ID confusion on the system.

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for November 2002

Hi Dan,

I don't know as this will add much to the debugging info, but I've finally fallen victim to the "unable to assign points to replies" syndrome.

I logged on at home (a rarity) to check on Harry's congratulatory thread and when I tried to assign points, they didn't take. I believe it was the third try that finally did it. I was able to reply without any trouble, just couldn't assign. Home environment: Microslop Windoze 98, IE 6.0, DSL connected to local ISP. Work environment (where I've NEVER experienced this phenomena): HP-UX 11i, Netscape 4.78, T1 connection.

Obviously I'm wondering if this is an IE peculiarity.

And *this* thread now also victimized to NTP problem. I am *sure* I read Chris's post /before/ I posted mine about new threads. I hit the (second) submit on 13:36:00

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for November 2002

Dan,

I've got to concur with Merijn: the timing issue is still present. When I submitted my reply to this question, it was the third, several minutes later, Ravi's response (which came after the other three) is now the first:

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for November 2002

Hi Dan:

The time synchronization issue has returned. This really makes mince-meat of this Forum.

In the thread below, the author posted at 1407 GMT. I noted Pete's wry comment as the *first* at 1410 GMT and *then* we see other responses arrive at 1343 and 1346 GMT.

What's the explanation?

Regards!
