Dan,

I replied to this message:

http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,,0x8d1c543254bfd611abdb0090277a778c,00.html

and now the text of the Author's message is GONE, and the message doesn't appear in the list of messages!

what's with that?

Hi Dan,

Like Patrick Wallek i wish a indicator for moved threads.
And I wonder like harry d brown jr about the disappeared thread.
Last but not least:
When pushing the reply button in the same window I wish for quoting the author in the reply screen so it's easier to put a friendly salutation. (not really important but nice to have)

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues - September 2002

Dan,

The recent enhancment of displaying the question in front of the reply input text box was a great idea.

Another idea I would like to suggest is the name of the submitter also be included with the question.

Many times I'm in the middle of replying and I want to include the name of the submitter, but it's no where to be found. If I'm lucky the submitter will type their name at the end of the question, but this is not always the case.

The forum is such a great place to interchange ideas, and I don't want to seem ungrateful for what we got, but in some future enhancement could this little addition be worked in?

Thanks,

Dan,

I posted a reply to this question on Informix startup, yet when I got back to the message it was blank and now I can't even find it without using the bookmark I saved:

hi,

Just wondering if there might be a possibility for a member to "close" his question after he is satisfied with the replies he got. After that, no one can post replies to that question...

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues - September 2002

Jeff,

I can't imagine why it was pulled, though. The author had a HP logo next to his name, the question was inocuous enough, and my answers were certainly tame. Most curious!

I just looked at it again and I got 8 points for my first answer! That wasn't there after it had initially disappeared so the author was still able to get to it.

Odd.

Dan,

I too would like to see the "moved thread" addressed. If a link is shown it should be able to take you to the thread - wherever it got moved to, so the move is transparent to the user. Otherwise the link should not be shown at all, except in the area it belongs. I would prefer the first myself...

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues - September 2002

This business of moving questions is getting out of hand. I understand the need for categories but it's annoying when a question you're following gets moved completely out of a category.
Today, this question:

http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,,0x0a23543254bfd611abdb0090277a778c,00.html

got moved to workstations>700 just because 700 was mentioned in the subject. It was an Ignite question for cripes sakes.

I'm getting a lot of redirections and "Could not login" messages from the us-support site. I'm currently logged in on the Europe site, and the problem has so far occured on most of the IT resource center roundy gray link box over the Welcome, text.

It's kindof annoying..

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues - September 2002

DAn,

I have been having problems with searches all week also. You do one search and get nothing. Then do another and get what you want. OR you do a search on the forums and technical documents. One search will give you just technical documents. Then you search again and get just forums....

Hope it helps

John, I've complained about the sucky search engine before. I know for a fact that boolean searches don't work - it's like they are using some microsoft suck engine, I mean searchless engine, I mean searches me, ... ?

Where the hell is the google search engine when you need it??

Hi BKUMAR:

You can always check your postings by going to your forum profile page and click on "his/her questions" option. In your case, I checked it and it has been moved to Linux forum. This is the one which you are looking for:

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues - September 2002

Right about 2:00PM EDT, I was unable to get to the ITRC > hp-ux main page. I got a blank page (just the blue navigation bar at the very top) that said:

Error processing SSI file '/cm/FamilyHomeContent/1,11868,LoggedIn!117,00.html'

After several minutes of trying, I was finally able to reconnect.

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues - September 2002

Hi Dan,

it seems that the email-notification is not working any more :-(
Just a few minutes ago I read the thread about the "RFC1948 TCP/IP Sequence Numbers":
http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,,0x6f24543254bfd611abdb0090277a778c,00.html
for which I had turned on "Notification" earlier. Well, there was a new (and interesting) reply, but no email has arrived (yet) :-(

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues - September 2002

Suggestion which may have been mentioned before:

It sure would be helpful if the search engine had an option so it would be limited to a certain section within the forums. This is especially helpful when you are searching for a Linux issue such as "ftp logins" and do not want to see the HP matching issues. This is going to become a bigger issue over time as Linux is used more and more. That's just one example though where this would be helpful. Thanks for all the improvements thus far!

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues - September 2002

Dan,

I just experienced the strangest (and scariest) thing that has ever happened to me on the forums. I was looking at a thread:

http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/0,,0x1cfb227a4bc6d611abdb0090277a778c,00.html

and I clicked on the login tab so I could reply. I put in my password and didn't even look at the user name field, as it always defaults to my ID. I did a search, went back to the question, and entered my reply. When I looked at the question again, I thought, "Gee, there is my reply, but some other guy typed in the same thing!" Then I realized that I was logged in as that other guy - CA2212, RC Engineer. I logged out immediately, clicked on Login again, and it had that CA2212 in the ID field. I changed it to my ID and logged in as myself.

How the heck did that happen, and how did I get in on that ID with my password. That was really freaky! I'm not superstitious, but it is Friday the 13th. ;)
