this URL is for 9i, if you could suffice the requirements, then 8.1.7 will also work fine

hello, be sure to have enough space and RAM, check the kernel-parameter to be tuned,check if some HP-UX Patches are needed for Oracle.
the the installation guide for oracle you can downlod it at oracle.
or do you have any special questions??

It is actually very smooth... apply the latest patchset to HP-UX 11i, set the recommended kernel parameters, install Oracle, then apply the 8.1.7.4 patchset to Oracle. Finally, tune Oracle pfile parameters for best performance.
