powerpath and hp-ux 11.31

Hi all!

Could anybody tell me about new V.3 /11.31/ of HP-UX and PowerPath.

1. How to migrate from PowerPath to native multi-pathing?
2. Is there any reason to keep using PowerPath together with agile view on the new OS-version or it is no need to do this?

Any experience?
Any links how to migrate and about the benefit of PowerPath in the new conditions?

I'm not aware of any literature on this, but I'm sure EMC could give you some reasons to stay on PowerPath!

As to how to migrate, my approach would be:

1) Ensure I have LVM PVLinks configured on top of powerpath.
2) Remove Powerpath completely - now only using PVLinks
3) Upgrade to 11.31 following standard methods described in docs at docs.hp.com (can't give you links as the site is down at the moment)

As a note: EMC always recommends removing PowerPath before doing any patches or updates.

I love early adopters of the OS, they go through so much pain so I don't have to.

1) You can not use Powerpath on 11.31 until EMC releases a version specific to the OS. You system can use alternate paths immediately after OS installation, so long as Powerpath is NOT installed.
2) Powerpath is essential to use with EMC disk arrays in order to use advanced features. If you are simply looking for alternate paths without load balancing or any performance enhancing, it probably makes no difference.

What kind of improvment should be waiting for the PowerPath? What features are not supported by OS and requires PowerPath?

the documentation say:

"PowerPath: PowerPath does not manage multi-pathing on HP-UX 11i v3. Native multi-pathing is used for EMC devices."
