privileges based on directories ?

[vas bolpali]

I have 2 directories /dc and /dc/watch

when i try to ftp files to /dc directory
my permissions are rwx for others.

when i try to ftp files to /dc/watch directory
my permissions are -- (None) for others.
even though my umask was 000, in both cases.

why i am getting different privileges based on directories.
or
I am missing some thing ?

Hi Vasu,

Take a look at the threads below. I don't understand how your umash gets changed in the same session on your moving from one directory to another.
