Problem Loading hp-ux 11i on a J6000

I am trying to load my J6000 system with hp-ux 11i and it loads the first disk fine. When it asks for the second disk, it will say that the disk I put in is the incorrect disk. It will not go past this point. Any ideas? I have not seen this problem. All help is appreciated.

Have you tried a different set of disks?
The second one may be no good.

Have you tried to "Ctrl+C" out of the install and push to a recovery shell? Maybe try to get to a recovery shell and mount the 2nd CD.

If you have another set of media, try it... wouldn't hurt to try another dvd rom if you have an external one lying around. or use a cd lens cleaner in the drive if you think it might be a problem reading the disk.

I would look and see if the disk looks scratched up at all. Also you could stick the disk in another system and try reading all of the files to see if you get any read errors.

Re: Problem Loading hp-ux 11i on a J6000

thanks for the replies. I have tried a second set of disks. the one I originally tried is brand new, and then I tried a second set of burned cd's (burned from a seperate set of disks) were also tried, but with the same result. Disk 1 loads fine with Disk 2 not being recognized. Is there a possibility of a problem with cdrom firmware?

Re: Problem Loading hp-ux 11i on a J6000

We had I believe the same thing in an upgrade...

Some of the step we had to do:

5. Mount HPUX 11i Disc 1
6. Start install procedure
a. script /tmp/OSupgrade
b. mount /dev/cdrom /SD_CDROM
c. swinstall â r â s /SD_CDROM Update-UX \@ /var/adm/sw/Update-UX.root 2>/dev/null
d. edit /usr/lib/sw/update-ux.cfg file and comment out all lines that contain JAVAOOB
e. update-ux â s /SD_CDROM HPUX11i-OE
7. Follow Instructions
