Hello I have a problem printing a postscript file:
* when i put the -onb option don't print anything
* when i leave it without the -onb option print the banner
* i try setting the banner option off at the printer definition, it just don't print
This command works ok (print without banner, but is a txt file):
lp -s -onb -dmyprinter textfile.txt
This commands works but print the banner page:
lp -dmyprinter -opostscript psfile.ps
request id is myprinter-2714 (1 file)
lp -dmyprinter psfile.ps
request id is myprinter-2720 (1 file)
This command just don't print anything:
lp -dmyprinter -onb psfile.ps
request id is myprinter-2721 (1 file)
Here is my configuration
HP-UX B.11.00
Printer controler JetDirect Version E.10.34

1) Job Recovery [ON]
2) True End-of-Job [N/A]
3) Banner Page [OFF]
4) Default Printing Language [N/A]
5) PostScript Level [N/A]
6) Banner Tray [default]
7) Banner Paper Size [default]

you know there is a model script *for* this printer, right?
http://www.hp.com/pond/modelscripts/index2.html
and look for net_lj4250.sh.Z
it may, or may not, fix your issue.
also, you may need to check the printer setup to see if its configured to auto-sense / auto-switch to based on data sent.

The key is this:

Your printer apparently does not support PostScript, so printing a postscript file will likely not work.

Right. Since it can't print the file, and you specify no banner, then there's nothing to print.

Again, correct. The printer can't print the postscript file, but you are asking for a banner, so the banner it the only thing you get.
In order to print a postscript file, your printer MUST support postscript.
