Re: problem with console in single user mode

Jan,
Looks like a similar issue on booting single user in HPUX was here some time back. Please review the thread below

Re: problem with console in single user mode

Jan,

The result on the foto does not look familiar to me.
I would suggest to check your /etc/inittab if some strange settings are done in runlevel s/S.
I could think of different speed settings for the console.

One other thing is, when doing a init s (or S) The manpage tells:
Enter the single-user environment. When this level
change occurs, the logical system console /dev/syscon
is changed to the terminal from which the command was
executed.

Re: problem with console in single user mode

Hi,
Seems Like console setting problem.
You can get into settings with some combination of keys or special keys on your Terminal Keyboard.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
You can try to get into the setting by pressing
1) Cntrl + Esc
2) Cntrl + any Function key
3) Any Special key if available on keyboard.
4) Or read the Document that came with your Terminal.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Check What is the Term and baud setting on your console ?
Some Console works with
hp as the TERM and baud = 7,parity=odd,stop bit = 1
Some uses others
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
If you have a hp console try the above settings please do not forget to write down the current settings if you make any changes

Re: problem with console in single user mode

Jan, Looking at photo it looks like a console setting problem.

Press F8 ( May be F10 or F12 ) key to enter config. Seems to be a problem in terminal emulation.
Find terminal emulation and try setting it to hp or VT100.
Secondly as Imran said check for the communication parameters as well.

Hope this helps

(console reset via CTRL + D didn't help before)
