Problem

Hi

I have a network of HP Unix server and workstations.
Today while working, all the Users at my site and the remote sites were thrown out of the system.
I went to the server and logged in, it was working fine and there were no error messages on the server.
The problem which i faced were

Problem NO. 1

But when i was doing telnet into my Unix server it was only asking me for the password and not the username.
I tried it on various machines but same problem on all i.e. only password was being asked and after entering any password it was not logging anyways ( including password for user root ) .

The system came back on its own in 10-15 minutes.

Please revert, u brainy fellas.
I wish i become like u some day sitting on net and solving problems of others..

Best regards
Rajiv.

Re: Problem

Rajiv,
The only time I have seen the box ask for a password and not a username is when some logs in from a virtual console with the root username, and the switches the virtual console to another server. Usually you would see this by looking at the processes and seeing a LOGIN process.

If all your users were kicked off I would say you had some sort of temporary network outage.

Just my thoughts,
