Problems booting from HP11.0 december 2002 CD's

Hi all,

We used to install HP11.0 june 2002 CD's on a C3650 (firmware 1.7).
This works without problems.
However if we want to install the HP11.0 december 2002 version on the same WS, the installation fails. The system reports :

ENTRY_IO failed, status = -3: Cannot complete call without error.

IPL error, bad IPL checksum
Error reading IPL


We tried the same CD's (december 2002, 5012-1967) on a K-server,B2600 and another C3650 without problems.

After the failure we used the june 2002 version again.
No problems encounterd. Weird !!

I would suspect the CD drive.
Try replacing it with another one

youre not the only one. We had problems too with the 11.0 dec2002 install CD. I suspect the dec2002 media is not as robust as the earlier versions. We simply used an earlier version also to get around it.
Im from Palmerston North, New Zealand, but somehow ended up in London...
