Question regarding HP OpenCall

Hi,

Hope someone answer these question:

In HP's OpenCall SS7 software, if I remember correctly, from SAM, we could configure up to the TCAP level of the SS7 protocol stack.

Does this mean that the higher protocol stack above TCAP such as MAP protocol is not configurable in OC?

Generally speaking, would this entail that protocol layers higher than the TCAP layer will be mainly dependent on the applications using OC or does HP also provide the higher application protocol such as MAP protocol built inside the OC software?

I asked this question since if for some reason we need to upgrade the protocol stack above TCAP level, whom should we call, the application provider or HP?

Thanks,

Kenneth

Re: Question regarding HP OpenCall

Dear Kenneth,

Sorry for the long delay...

Regarding your question, I need to know which product you are using and with which application provider? (HP OpenCall SS7 or any other such as OC IN, OC IN7, OC INS, OC MP, which version? please look at http://www.hp.com/communications/opencall/index.html)

If your question is just about OC ss7, yes, in this case, you can configure up to TCAP or ISUP level. Application provider developped on this API and may develop upper layer protocols. However, hp has also been implementing some higher level protocols in projects on hp OpenCall SS7 such as MAP.

Adding a new protocol such as MAP means also that the application you are using is adapted and therefore you need to ralk to your applcation provider in any case.

Please let me know if you need local hp contact to discuss your precise needs,

Best Regards,
