Hey all, I've installed Ignite C.7.2.94 on my 11.11 old D-class server, but I'm having major problems getting it to back up the other servers. HP's documentation is pretty crappy on the subject.
I fire up /opt/ignite/bin/ignite and attempt to add server, it creates the entries in /var/opt/ignite/clients, but gives me the following error:
"Warning: No xauth data; using fake authentication data for X11 forwarding.
ERROR: Failed to copy config.sys from /opt/ignite/boot/Rel_B.11.11/INSTALLFS on "cdcux62".
You must use the '-R release' option to specify a release that is supported by "cdcux62".
On "cdcux62" list the contents of /opt/ignite/boot to determine the supported releases."
It's still not clear to me why it cares about X11 forwarding; the only time I run any of HP's interactive stuff through X is if I feel like punishing myself for something.
Anyway, I checked the contents of /opt/ignite/boot, and it seems to have release directories for 11.00 and 11.11 as expected; neither of them contains a config.sys file. I'm guessing there's another package I need to install, but I can't figure out what it would be. Do I need to install depots of the original Enterprise software media? I don't intend to be building new systems from this ignite server, just backing up vg00 on a host of boxes.
Thanks!

Re: Problems getting ignite server going
Shalom,
You need to swcopy the core OS cd to the NFS share you are housing your Ignite images on.
The D class system needs full access to this share point.
I found the Ignite documentation to be pretty useful. Let me post you a few links:
http://docs.hp.com/en/5991-7999/ch08s03.html
http://docs.hp.com/en/B2355-91049/ch07.html
http://docs.hp.com/en/5991-7999/ch08.html
http://docs.hp.com/en/B2355-90153/apcs08.html
That about covers Golden Images.
I've always had success having the client initiate the backup. Its more aware of whether it can back up or not than the distant underpowered Ignite Server.
http://docs.hp.com/en/B2355-90772/ch11s05.html
Network and Tape creation.
http://docs.hp.com/en/B2355-90772/ch11s04.html
Let me know if you need more specific help.

Solution
Hello Matt.
try to do it manually
1. create the client directory in the ignite server server
"mkdir -p /var/opt/ignite/recovery/archives/ServerA"
2. chown bin:bin /var/opt/ignite/recovery/archives/ServerA
3. edit with vi /etc/exports in the ignite server
"/var/opt/ignite/recovery/archives/ServerA -anon=2,access=ServerA"
4. run the following command in the ignite server
"exportfs -av"
5. and in teory you should be able to run the ignite backup now in ServerA
"make_net_recovery -s" -x inc_entire=vg00
