Problems with Quality Pack 03-2003 -- SAM/swlist/swinstall core-dump

Hi out there,
after installing QP 03-2003 on HP-UX 11-64Bit we cannot use SAM/swlist/swinstall/.. anymore (core-dump). Anyone with the same problem or an solution ? An SD-Patch was included, but uninstalling PHCO_27672 seems to be not as easy without an functional SD-Toolset. Thank you in advance. Greetings, Jan

Please try following:

# ps -ef | grep -i swagentd
# kill (-9)
# swagentd -r

# swinstall -s /dev/dsk/c... (device of CD_ROM)

GUI will start, then select the Quality Pack 03-2003 and start analyze/install agin. If that doesn't work fine, please have a look in /var/adm/sw/swagent.log and post the messages.

What was the last thing you installed? Please have a look to the timestamp of /var/adm/sw/products:

# ll /var/adm/sw/products

Then check the /var/adm/sw/swagent.log to find out what you have installed.

Please verify now if the last installed software has been installed fine:

# swverify

Please run also swcopy to be sure that all software is in the right state:

# ps -ef | grep swagentd
# kill (-9)
# swagentd -r

# swconfig \*

swagent must be running to install sofware.

/etc/nsswitch.conf must also at least exist.

follow the instructions above and restart swagent

Then swverify \* look for errors. If there is software that needs to be configured

swconfig \*

I didn't even know that quality pack was available.

I guess I'm a little behind.

I don't know this error ;-( Do you mount the CD in CD- or DVD-drive? Maybe the DVD-drive brings this problems. Are you able to swcopy the patch from CD to system? Try also using a CD-drive.

We could guess as to why sd-ux is coredumping: corrupt /var/adm/sw/queue, missing links, a corrupt library. The only way to cut to the chase on this one is to use adb, look at the core and make a determination. If you log a support case, we can do that.

Hi folks,
finally we used ignite to set the system back to the state of the "good old times".
We will fetch the quality-pack again and do a "diff" - if it doesnot show any difference we will wait for another six month and try it again using pack 09-2003.
