Process with ppid of 1

Morning all,
Here is a "mission impossible" question for anyone who wants to shoot me down!!!!

I've got a process that has died un-cleanly and has now got a ppid of 1 (init). I've looked at this before, and the only way that I've got it to die, is to reboot the machine.
Has anyone got any sneaky methods to kill it off, or am I forced into a reboot?

I think I already know that answer to this, but you never know!!!!

Yeah thought so. THanks for the input. I'll have to wait 'till after Christmas before I can reboot it. DOH!!!
