put SG on, but not using it, is there a problem with that?

If SG is just installed on the server, but not configured, nor have plan to use it, would that pose any problems?

Hi Hanry:

No, having installed MC/Serviceguard bu not having configured a cluster is not going to cause any harm.

Out of curiosity, though, if you are not planning to use it, why did you install it?

As Dogbert would say, "I would have no problem with that." Unless you start cmcld, the box will not have a clue that MC/SG is on the box other than the swlist display. Normally, as a matter of good security practice and system management, it is not a good idea to install software that is never intended to be used. It might raise some unneeded questions in the minds of auditors and you would be in the rather difficult position of explaining (and documenting) why you installed software that is never going to be used.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Good points!

I am not clear on why it was installed at beginning. But, I am guessing, it maybe ignited off from a SG server... or was trying to use it but give it up at the end...

I don't know the history about the server, but these are I can think of...
