pvcreate -b

After reading the manpages also I am not fully understand the -b(lowercase) option.
Help will be appreciated.

This option is used if you want to specify (and have the information) where there are known bad blocks on the physical media.
I don't know of anyone actually using this in the recent past.
My house is the bank's, my money the wife's, But my opinions belong to me, not HP!

-b option is for bad blocks.

I don't use it.

Hi,

If U have known bad blocks in the disk

then U can basically list down the bad blocks

one by one so that those blocks will be marked

bad and wont be used..
