Quality Packs, Patches, depots, etc.

What am I doing wrong here ...

I want to download and install the latest Quality Pack for 11.0 (QPK1100) - Sept 2002 (B11.00.58.5).

I went to 'Standard Patch bundles', Support Plus from SUM, entered appropriate System Handle, went to Support Plus releases, QPK1100 Sept 2002, clicked on SW and went to 'Download'. Received 300 Mb file in tar format. Transferred this to by server and un-tared into a /tmp/patches directory.

This produced a load of PH* directories. Typical content (e.g. of PHNE_26730) is a load of sub-directories (ATM2HSC-KRN, ATM2HSC-RUN, ...), etc.

I expected a depot file to be downloaded, but since it was not, I tried to create one. This fails at the first step, because 'sh PH*' produces 'Execute permission denied' - unsurprisingly, since PH* is a directory.

Obvious questions are:
- am I going to the right place for the QP ?
- why is a depot file not downloadable ?
- why does running sh, followed by swcopy to create a depot not work for me.

try to rename a .tar file in .depot and run

swinstall -s //file.depot

it will work

Re: Quality Packs, Patches, depots, etc.

hi,

I never used ITRC to get patches, but the standard format for a patch bundle could be :

A - a depot file, like the one you received and which doesn't need to be un-tar'ed

B - a depot directory like the one you got after exploding your tar file. This one should contain a lot of subdirectories for products, filesets, ...

You don't need to do anaything else. You can try to swinstall either from the tar file or from the exploded directory.

Regards.
It works for me (┬й Bill McNAMARA ...)

Re: Quality Packs, Patches, depots, etc.

Do you really think that renaming a file with a '.depot' extension could change it into a SD depot if it wasn't one before ???

Don't untar it. Swinstall will handle it as is.

for jean

If you like you don't rename a file and swinstall work.

it's only for remember that this file is a depot.

Re: Quality Packs, Patches, depots, etc.

When you download it - you select the way it is packaged.

I got the same depot - no problem - size - 318720000.

Somewhere in your download there should be a script to make it into a depot - I can't remember the name of it though.
