questions on remotely rebooting

HP-UX 10.20, series 700

I will like to know if there are some options to the
reboot command such that I can have
the system boot up on an alternative disk, given
the device/SCSI ID or PRI/ALT label.

Occassionally, I'll reboot a system remotely but
if I want the system to boot up on an alternative
disk, I must take a walk just to do such a reboot.

thanks,

Boyd

Hi Boyd,

I'm afraid that to do a reboot on an alternate disk, you'll need to interrupt the boot process.
This can be done only on the console, but the console could be a Secure Web Console.
This would allow you to access the console remotely through your LAN.

Best regards,

Dan

Re: questions on remotely rebooting

Another option is to connect a mode and dialin to it using connection software like Procom Plus where you can get access to console remotely and do whatever you being logically present at the remote site. This is a good option specially for trouble shooting in absence of Web Console or give a walkthru over the phone to some remotely.
It is really good, i have been supporting HP9000 server all over US/Canada for my client.
