queue printer
Hi, how can i rebuild printer queues on unix?

I don't know how you can; I only know how I can. Do you have backups? Did you use the SAM feature that saves a printer configuration. If so then it's easy. It would help if you explained your situation. Are some queues corrupt? Have you lost your entire lp subsystem? Do you want to transfer printers to another host?

when a printer can not print, queue is redirected to other queue and the old queue has to be rebuilt, that activity is done for other area, and i want to know what they do when they are rebuilding queue ..
i know that use "cancel" delete prints pendings and ..what other thing they do ..?

The "cancel" command does exactly that; it cancels currently spooled printing jobs.
I suspect "they" then remove the print queue and then add it back but that is only a guess.
