Quick (hopefully easy) IGNITE question

Hi,
Please correct me if I'm wrong but the latest version of Ignite for HP-UX 11i allows you to network ignite older versions of hp-ux ? For example: I have it installed on an hp-ux 11i box and I could network ignite all my 11i servers + all my hp-ux 11 servers ? (and possibly also 10.20 ?)

Please let me know.

Thanks!

Re: Quick (hopefully easy) IGNITE question

The latest version of Ignite does let you work with older versions of HP-UX. I've been able to do make_net_recoveries with 11.00, stored on a 11.11 server. Its my understanding from instructors, HP does this in their labs.

Images from the Core OS will have to be built for the lower OS.

The support center won't help you with 10.20 anymore, its officially obsolete.

Thanks for the answer but I don't understand you saying "images from the OS will have to be built from the Core OS" ??

Re: Quick (hopefully easy) IGNITE question

Please read
/opt/ignite/share/docs/release_note.
Especially:
"This version of Ignite-UX is able to install the 10.20, 11.00, 11.11,
and 11.22 HP-UX releases." I'm using b.4.2 version.B version capable to install 11i,11.0 and 10.20.

Re: Quick (hopefully easy) IGNITE question

BTW take into account that the latest version of Ignite-UX comes with an 11i Version 1 install kernel, The latest version of Ignite-UX can install 11i, 11.0 and 10.20 but since they will be running an 11.11 install kernel those systems must be able to run (be supported to run?) 11.11.
