"enable" printer problem

Using 9000/735 with 10.2. All my print jobs from Site1 to a remote printer on Site2 will turn off "enable" on Site1 and not print. Problem started with a print job that just hung on "processing job". When I cancelled job with printers "cancel" it took several hours for printer to return to "ready". I can plot to a remote plotter on Site2 from Site1. Site2 will print to printer. A Xstation using Site1 will turn off "enable" as well. Printer was on Xstation when problem started. Moved printer to Site2 to confirm that there was no problem with Site2. Site2 also turned
"enable" off while printer was on Xstation. Have tried SAM and manual "enable" command to printer. Have OS backup tape.

Try these things too:
# lpshut
# lpsched

Removed SCHEDLOCK file from /var/spool/lp. If possible cancel all print jobs from:
# cancel -e

Check the network connectivity and printer status:
# lpstat -t
# enable printer_name

If you are using the cancel button on the printer, then be sure the printer model script has "-w" on the hpnpf program. This turns on "true-end-of-job" causing hpnpf to wait until print job completetion before transmitting the next print job. I have found that using the cancel button on the printer causes the print driver script to get confused with if "-w" is missing.
