Raid controller 4si
I have an RP2470 connected to external storage Disk system 2100 connected through Raid controller 4si as raid 5 ( 5 x HD ).
the disks were all flagged as FAILED with the logical drive OFFLINE, upon making them ON_LINE the logical drive status changed to degraded (actually one disk was found failed within the RAID5 logical drive)
The server was rebooted but still no disk device was detected (only the controller device) ; no device files corresponding to the logical drive.
irm, irdiag , irdisplay were showing correct information.
I wonder why a degraded logical drive is not seen by the system.
feedback are very much apprceciated
Regards,
Roger

Re: Raid controller 4si
Thank you for your concern,
I have no problem with the configuration using Raid utility (physical/logical drive status = online) . the problem is that HPUX is not detecting the the logical drive (device file not created ).

Re: Raid controller 4si
I think the card is dead.
ioscan
insf -C disk
ioscan
If you see no disks after this, consider replacing the card.

Re: Raid controller 4si
In fact the contraller card was detected and the corresponding driver by HP-UX.
Also , the RAID utilities ( irdiag , irdisplay ) showed the configuration of the disks and the logical drives.
