Although rcp works between our three HP-Ux boxes, the XP command...
c:\> rcp ford:/test.file c:\
comes back with...
ford: remshd: Login incorrect
rsh: can't establish connection
On the remote HP-Ux host "ford", we now have..
(file) (contains)
/home/bob/.rhosts chevy bob
/etc/hosts.equiv chevy bob
On the XP PC "chevy"
/etc/hosts.equiv ford bob
Microsoft's "Services for UNIX 3.5" is installed on the XP box.
Suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: rcp HP-Ux to WinXP
rcp fort.root:/test.file c:\
and you really should be using the -b option!!
rcp -b fort.root:/test.file c:\
instead of root, you can use some other user that has .rhosts set up correctly!

Re: rcp HP-Ux to WinXP
No reason to open up another security hole in Windows.
Secure shell for HP-UX is free. http://www.networksimplicy.com has a free product for windows as well.

Re: rcp HP-Ux to WinXP
Bill,
I use rcp from my xp box to my ux boxes all the time and it works quite well. The issue is that rcp on windows is NOT LIKE rcp on ux's.
Windows uses a format like this:
rcp -b srcHOST.userNAME:/path/file destHOST.userNAME:/path/file
on your xp box open a command window (start->run->cmd)
then at a prompt enter rcp -help
