rdsk files in /var/tmp

A few months ago, 8 or 10 of these files appeared in /var/tmp, can anyone tell me what they are for, and can they be removed?

I have nothing like that on any of my systems. I would make note of their characteristics just in case you have to re-create them and then blow them away with rmsf.

I had seen those files.

First we keep /var/tmp as a link to /tmp
As far as I understand, these files are created by fsck. Is fsck exits abnormally, it wont delete them then. You can relate the time stamp of those files to check if any work was carried out disks on that date.

If they are too old. Say more than 7-8 days, you can just remove those.

Thanks folks, I've a suspicion it's related to a disk space crisis we had back around then, I'll search the syslog for evidence that that is true.
