Re: fbackup

Hi guys,

Just wondered, how can tell the amount of space that has been taken up on a tape after I have run an fbackup on that tape?
Is there anyway I can check the remaining capacity?

Re: Re: fbackup

Shalom again Habib,

I don't think the tape can be used for anything else after an fbackup. I would not try, in order to preserve the integrity of the backup.

You can use SAM to list the files on the tape. That will provide a total.

Re: Re: fbackup

As Steven mentions, fbackup does not allow appending. Like most commercial backup programs, it is imperative to have detailed information about the tape that is readable. If you append something, there is no way to know about the appended files except perhaps a pen and notepad. If fbackup needs more space, it will ask for additional tapes when necessary.
