boot from dvd and them select installation boot media tape, or in boot menu add a new boot antry, and boot from tape directly, its depend on firmware and ignite version.

There is no option to directly boot from TAPE.
As you said firmware version that is latest.

there is everything what you need,
the last question : The tape drive is directly connected with SCSI cable ( external or internal TAPE ) or is from SAN attached.
