recovery of ignite server
rx4840
DVD RW
11.23
Ignite 6.9.150 (* unsupported after 12/2008 *)
Question: I have an Itanium ignite server and need to recovery it at a DR site. What is the best media and command procedure?
a) make_tape_recovery: I've tried this but can't verify it. Also it seems to need a boot cd before using. OK to use?
b) DVD - Reading the 'make_media_install' example script now. Needs a new lvol.

Re: recovery of ignite server
no CD is required to a boot from ignite tape. Tape itself is bootable ideally

Re: recovery of ignite server
If you have older firmware, you needed a two step process to boot from tape:

So you should check your DR machines.

Re: recovery of ignite server
the firmware version 4.10 was introducing the boot from tape capability.
Meanwhile current version is this:
VERSION: System FW 04.29, BMC FW 04.06, iLO MP FW E.03.32 and U160 SCSI EFI Boot Services Driver 01.04.01.00

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
