recovery tape on network
Hi,
Whats the procedure to make a recovery tape for a server with no tape drive?
Is this the same for all versions of hpux (10.10, 10.20, 11.0)
Thanks
SK

Re: recovery tape on network
What you need to do is install Ignite on another server that does have a tape drive. From this server you can then do a make_net_recovery to create an image from the machine(s) you want to back up onto this machine over the network. Once that is done, you can create a bootable tape from the make_net_recovery image.
Have a look at the file /opt/ignite/share/doc/makenetrec.txt
This will give you details on how to create a make_net_recovery image and then how to create a bootable tape from that image.

Re: recovery tape on network
Tape drive works best, even one that you have to sneakernet between machines.
I tried make_net_recovery and the fact that we have SEOS running prevents some files from being accessed by pax, even by root.
Run, fighting and screaming if anyone mentions that you have to implement SEOS.
