REDHAT SG for w2003 Tomcat balancing
I've been tasked with to run a 4 servers (with not SAN): two w2003 tomcat servers & two SG Redhad for load balancing this tomcat servers.
I think that the SAN is necessary to run on this solution. ¿Is true?
I dont know the SG solution but if somebody can help me about a valid model for this model of service: disponibility with 2 tomcat w2003 tomcat servers & SG for linux.
Many thanks.

Re: REDHAT SG for w2003 Tomcat balancing
Serviceguard requires shared storage.
Technically it does not need to be a SAN. It can be a JBOD, just a bunch of disk box permitting two scsi connections.
If your back end OS was Red Hat Linux, it would be possible to pull it off with RH 4 and Red Hat Cluster Suite, because it has no shared storage requirement.
SG will permit you to go active active on your cluster configuration but you won't be able to share data on the shared storage without a clustering file system. Veritas offers one.
I'll try and remember to watch this thread and follow up if you have further questions, but the country I'm in is kind of closed because of two centimenters of snow and I'm not sure how much longer I'm going to have Internet Access.

Re: REDHAT SG for w2003 Tomcat balancing
To decide if you need shared storage you have to know if there is data that changes on the tomcat servers that needs to be preserved after a failover. If there is, then you need to have shared storage.
