remote desktop...UNIX - WINDOWS

Hello..
How to access my UNIX machine sun solaris via remote desktop from my windows machine??

Is this possible and how..
and can someone give me the name of some software to DL for that purpose..

You can use either a Full X-Windows Session(xdm) session OR Use a product called VNC (www.realvnc.com). With Full X-Windows Session - you will need an X-Server emulation program on your PC -- like. KeaX, eXceed, ReflectionX, etc...

I do believe that realvnc runs on all of the above platforms and HP-UX for that matter.

If all you want is a text based connection, then windows hyperterminal works.

If you want a graphics then you will have to use a program such as ReflectionsX, eXceed or cygwin.

The first two are commercial products for purchase. The last one is open source and and can be found at

Hi,

another nice tool is XMing which is also freeware. As others it allows having a Xserver on your PC or connect to a desktop running on your UNIX servers.
