remote print from Windows to Unix network queue

this may be crazy, but does anyone know if it's possible, and if so how, to send files from a Windows server, to a network printer configured on a Unix server? the purpose is to control the queue better thru automation (i.e. disable queue when no staff available). not sure if this can be done. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

seems possible, may require registry tweaking in windows.

I'm not sure I understand what it is you are trying to automate, and how having windows print to hpux instead of the printer helps, tho.

You need to install print services for unix. Then create an lpr printer that points to the unix server and provide the queue name of the printer.

If it is a network printer, it isn't owned by any server. You should be able to send directly to the printer.
