Re: remote system backup

YOu cannot ignite to a remote tape drive.
The option you have is to go for a
make_net_recovery

check the document at
/opt/ignite/share/doc/makenetrec.txt

Re: remote system backup

You can use fbackup -f : to do remote backups to a remote tape device.

All you need is for root to be able to remsh to the remote server (where the tape device is) without needing a password (need a .rhosts file)
Im from Palmerston North, New Zealand, but somehow ended up in London...

Re: remote system backup

I think that I must explain more..
My question is:
Can I to use the second machine with tape for realising a system boot backup tape for the machine without tape.

Re: remote system backup

Hi
The best solution is to set up an Ingnite server. Whith this you can back/recover up all your HP-UX computers without using any tapes.
You can downlod Ignite from:

Re: remote system backup

You cannot make a boot tape from remote without having an ignite server ... you can do remote backups and so on..
But if you want to have an ignite tape from that server you have to do this via make_net_recovery ...

Re: remote system backup

Go out on the used market and buy a tape drive. Back in June you could pick up a DDS3 drive for $425. They're probably even cheaper now.

The only way you're going to be able to do what you really want is to have a local tape drive available.
