Removing Second disk from Mirror VG00

Hi peeps

See attached

Can anyone help please.

uname -a
HP-UX homer B.11.00 A 9000/867 1401385272 two-user license
getconf KERNEL_BITS
32

Originally I was extending VG00 from one 4GB (c4t5d0) disk to another 2X2GB (c2t0d0) & (c2t5d0) disk equating to 8GB in total, just to outline and simplify things.

I was about to setup a mirror, but the second 2Gb disk complained while extending /dev/vg00/lvol2 over to the two disks. So I first thought to shutdown and try and fix the disk prob, then rebooted and though just back the whole thing out.
I wish I never started now ;-)

So Peeps B 4 I Ignite the box. "Bit drastic mind. Anyone got any Ideas

Cheers

Rich

Re: Removing Second disk from Mirror VG00

boot, swap and root needs to be contegious hence u can not mirror those lv's to two disks.

Instead,
mirror them to one of the disk and then opt, usr, tmp can be mirrored to other two disks.

diskinfo needs a charecter special file hence use /dev/rdsk/.....

vgreduce -f can be used to remove t5 as it seems to be offline (h/w error)...

Why not mirror to one single 4 GB disk ?.

Re: Removing Second disk from Mirror VG00

It should hv been ..

pvcreate â B /dev/rdsk/c2t0d0 # This will be used to boot incase the master fails..
vgextend /dev/vg00 /dev/dsk/c2t0d0 /dev/dsk/c2t5d0
mkboot /dev/rdsk/c2t0d0
Mkboot â a â hpux â lq (;0)/stand/vmunixâ /dev/rdsk/c2t0d0
lvextend â m 1 /dev/vg00/lvol3 /dev/rdsk/c2t0d0
lvextend â m 1 /dev/vg00/lvol1 /dev/rdsk/c2t0d0
lvextend â m 1 /dev/vg00/lvol2 /dev/rdsk/c2t0d0

Provided lvol1+2+3 not more than 2 GB

Backout should hv been ..

lvreduce â m 0 /dev/vg00/lvol1
lvreduce â m 0 /dev/vg00/lvol2
lvreduce â m 0 /dev/vg00/lvol3

vgreduce /dev/vg00 /dev/dsk/c2t0d0
vgreduce -f /dev/vg00

check the last two commands ("try man vgreduce

Re: Removing Second disk from Mirror VG00

diskinfo is a type i cut and pasted yep I know it should be a Rw divice file cheers for spotting that.

I pressumed by specifying both disks it would have managed the mirroring its self and then carried on to the second disk?
I did put / /stand & swap on to the first disk I pressume by doing it this way ?

Just want to get rid of it now.

vgreduce -f did work cheers

I can manage now ta
