remshd: connect second port: Connection timed out

Hello,
I found the above message within the syslog.log
at our two login servers.
It appears nearly every minute and fills up my syslog ?!

I always use the search funktion here, but can't find a matching issue ?!

Any Idea ?

Thank you in advance.

Rgds.

Is there a firewall involved?

Re: remshd: connect second port: Connection timed out

Hello All,
thank you for fast reply.

@Cheryl
My company uses a firewall, but only for traffic outside our site. The Unix server
I have under controle are all in the same subnet ?!

@Robert-Jan,
I will check the document page.

Thx.

Re: remshd: connect second port: Connection timed out

Hello,
problem solved.
Now I found the causer of the message.
In this case it had nothing to do with a firewall. It was a license check skript from
another host which isn't under my control.
They started a license check every 30min, with a remsh request on my hosts. Because of the fact that they are not authorised, the connection timed out.
Now they have stopped the service and my syslog is clean ;-)

Thank you again for all your comments.

Best Regards.
Claus
