reset lock passwd

Hello

I have a secure system if a user login more then 3 times incorretly it will lock the userid and will not allow the user to login.

I would like to know how do I unlock the user.

What if I lock myself as root how do I unlock myself?

Thanks in advance..

Re: reset lock passwd

Hi,

If you lock the root password, you can still login as root from the console.

To unlock a user passowrd, try

/usr/lbin/modprpw -m llog=0 user_id

Hope this helps.

Re: reset lock passwd

to unlock a user you can either use sam, or you can use /usr/lbin/modprpw -k

this will unlock a user.

if you lock out root - then simply log on as root with the last known password on the console. This should automagically unlock the root account.

Scott.

Re: reset lock passwd

Hi John,

If root becomes locked because of invalid password attempts, root can still log in on the system console. I believe you would still need to re-enable root's account with the "modprpw" command. I'm not 100% sure because I've not run a trusted system in awhile.

Here's another suggestion: click on "search" on the left of the screen and search the forums for "root locked trusted". You should find a number of threads on the subject.
