Dear Experts,
I have one HP9000 L2000 server. In the syslog I had found
Nov 20 22:27:53 MSA vmunix: SCSI: Resetting SCSI -- lbolt: 7838680, bus: 4
Nov 20 22:27:53 MSA vmunix: SCSI: Reset detected -- lbolt: 7838680, bus: 4
Nov 20 22:27:58 MSA vmunix: SCSI: Unexpected Disconnect -- lbolt: 7839180, dev: cb040002, io_id: 4000169
Nov 20 22:27:58 MSA vmunix: SCSI: Unexpected Disconnect -- lbolt: 7839181, dev: cb040002, io_id: 4000169
Pls advice which scsi that cause the scsi reset problem.
Kenneth

Re: Resetting SCSI error
SCSI resets are difficult in that the errors you see may not be the ones causing the error. Far better to look at the hardware diagnostic logs for a clearer picture of what caused it. Run /usr/sbin/xstm
then go to TOOLS -> RUN -> LOGTOOL
and look at the logfiles - at the exact time of the scsi reset above 22:27:53 you will see some hardware errors in the log with the hardware path shown - eg. 10/0/0/0.6 Look for which path has the most errors at this time so that you can ignore possible ghosts.

Im from Palmerston North, New Zealand, but somehow ended up in London...

Re: Resetting SCSI error
Kenneth,
Follow Stefan's advice to obtain more detailed info. , but you will probably find that these lbolt errors are associated with phisicals disks and their controllers. This is not an issue as long as its a one off error and you are not getting a number of these. If you agetting a few of these then log a Hardware support call beofre th preoverbail happens !

You are either part of the solution or part of the problem
