I'm running a hpux foundation v2 11.23 on a rx7620 with a virtual array 7110. I did install the onlineJFS, but I was unable to resize my logicial volume. I saw that I should enable the software on the internet, but when I'm trying /sbin/fs/vxfs/vxenablef -a -e online, I'm getting mismatch : command version 35 - kernel version 33.
here is the output of the vxlicrep

Re: Resizing with OnlineJFS
if you can elaborate what you mean by "I was not able to resize my logical volume" by explicityly posting your commands and the error messages you got back from the server, you may get a better response.

Re: Resizing with OnlineJFS
assuming you want to increase the size of your /opt filesystem to 8000MB. modify the number according to your case. note that, 8000MB or roughly 8GB is the final size of /opt not the additional space you want to allocate.
lvextend -L 8000 /dev/vg00/lvol5
fsadm -F vxfs -b 8000M /opt
this should accomplish your task. If you get any errors in the process, please post the error messages for further help
Note lvol5 is the default logical volume for /opt but yours might be different. check before proceeding with the first command above and modify the lvol if necessary

Re: Resizing with OnlineJFS
I notified that there is 2 versions of onlineJFS install, the default one is the one that return and error when I do the vxenablef, so I have /sbin/fs/vxfs and vxfs4.1.
Do I need to uninstall a version?
Is it possible that sam point to the wrong version.
Here is the output of my swlist...

SolutionSeems this is recognized in patch PHCO_34208 :
JAGaf79629 ) When trying to extend a filesystem with SAM and OnlineJFS B.11.23.0505, the following error message is displayed: =============================================
Executing the following command:
\C/usr/sbin/vxlicense -p >/dev/null 2>&1 && (
/sbin/fs/vxfs/vxenablef | /usr/bin/fgrep -i
Full_VxFS )\C
Command completed with exit status 1.
=============================================
I have NOT applied and tested this patch yet, but it may solve this problem.
(Mind you, it doesn't really explain what the problem is.)

Re: Resizing with OnlineJFS
I just installed the phco_34208, everything looks great, I was able to resize a logical volume within SAM, but I did get an error at the startup of the logical volume option...
Encountered an error. SAM cannot recognize disk layout version 6.
But, it still worked.
thanks,
