Restore Data form Tape

Dear all,
I want to restore data from Data with "frecover" command.
But the problem is I have no enough disk space of server to restore the data from tape.
Maybe :
(1)how to compress data during restore the data from tape.

(2)Does It have any software or command to access tape's Data directly. So I can download the data of tape to my Pc.

I am interested to know:
Is the data being recovered, from a different system?
Are you intending recovering the hole backup archive or just a part?

I just want to get some data from tape(which data backup from another system).
and it won't replace any files of my system.

1. You need to delete or compress data on the server before restoring from tape.

2. Data can be restored as it is as backed up. However after restore it can be compressed.

3. Not come across any tool to access data from tape directly.

4. Only after restore data can be ftp to PC.

I am not sure but frecover with -x options could work
The files identified by the -i, -e, and -g options are extracted or not extracted from the backup media.
