Hi,
I'm trying to install RGS sender in a server without success. The issue is that I've installed it on my HPUX WS (same HPUX version, 11v1) and here it works find.
Here you've got the processes tree regarding dtlogin on both machines.
AT the server:
root 4378 1 0 Feb 9 ? 00:00 /sbin/sh /usr/dt/bin/dtrc
root 4414 4378 0 Feb 9 ? 00:00 /usr/dt/bin/dtlogin
At the machine:
root 2088 1 0 11:47:35 ? 00:00 /sbin/sh /usr/dt/bin/dtrc
root 2114 2088 0 11:47:37 ? 00:00 /usr/dt/bin/dtlogin
root 2120 2114 0 11:47:39 ? 00:11 /usr/bin/X11/X :0 -auth /var/dt/hpbplAAAa02114
root 2130 2120 0 11:47:49 ? 00:05 ./rgsender -daemon -display 0 -l /etc/opt/hpremote/rgsender/l
I think it is linked to the issue that the machine has a monitor, keyboard and mouse but not the server, so the server doesn't need to launch its own X server and, consequently, the rgsender is not launched also...
Well, I suppose it is a common problem as RGS sender should be mainly installed in servers without X running.
Can anybody help me?
Thanks in advance.

Solution
I'd look into configuring a virtual Xserver ie xvfb and supply the virtual screen name to any applications as needed, fyi xvfb comes as an Xserver extension so with a bit of luck should already be installed on the server .... search for xvfb on this forum or look at http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=1084644

Re: RGS and X server
unfortuantly not, I no longer work for HP, however I have copies of the scripts at home, drop me an email (see my forum profile) and I'll hapily forward them onto you.
