Root Account

I've managed to lock the root account trying to telnet to the box, how do I unlock it? I think i need to get to run level 0 or something to do this, any ideas?

Re: Root Account

You'll be able to login as root on the console only at this point.

Re: Root Account

How do i boot run level 1 if i have no rights, the root account is locked, and i can only log in as a normal user.

As Andy pointed out, you can log in as root on the console at this point.

Re: Root Account

You can try to su - from the user's account were you are logged in.
(su to root under root variable environment). If you have a secured environment and root login is locked due to many unsuccessful logins, well, you have to boot the box in single user mod (interrupt boot sequence and boot hpux ?is). If you setup a password even for single user mode, you have to boot from the CDROM, and edit /etc/password (just delete the information from password field.
Good luck.
