Re: Root Filesystem.

1. Make Ignite recovery tape: make_tape_recovery

2. Boot from above tape to resize your root filesystems and restore them.

Re: Root Filesystem.

If you search the forum for this topic, there are soooo many hits ...

One exapmle:

http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=1098002

short summary:

- check if this is really needed!
- clean up some files
- use ignite to backup the system and increase the LVOL during restore

Hope this helps!

Re: Root Filesystem.

there are a fuw parts that you can check before you do the extention: asuming you have a normal filesystem layout
cleanup old lvols in
/etc/lvmconf

check if ther is a other thing filling up /etc:
sudo du -ks /etc/* |sort -n |tail -10

check if you see non / files on the root filesytem:

ff /dev/vg00/lvol3

ps depening on the the unix level and the currend size of / it is whise to extend so please post:
bdf /
and
uname -a
