rpc.statd is looping
one machine has a abnormal behavior.
what we can see is that even after a reboot
the process rpc.statd takes 97% of the cpu.
And when logging with a user account we get no prompt, even we kill rpc.statd deamon.

Re: rpc.statd is looping
What is the role of this computer (nfs server / nfs client - both)?
rpc.statd is used by NFS locking mechanizm (to keep information what is locked and where).
Possible causes to rpc.lockd to loop -
1)cant resolve remote host name or has problems
resolving
2)remote client tries to reestablish lock lost due to shutdown (and can't for some reason)
3)bugs etc.
What can be done?
Check where is the problem, nfs server or nfs client (in other words what is the role of this computer).Use "showmount" to see remote clients mounting from this computer, check /etc/exports and exportfs what is exported.
Also check what is in the /var/statmon/sm & sm.bak.
