rpcd disable

I want to set START_RPCD=0 in /etc/rc.config.d/Rpcd file.

This will make 'rpcd' daemon not start in next reboot or kill process rpcd or /sbin/init.d/Rpcd stop

I want to remove it due to security reasons but I'm not sure.

What parts of system will be damaged or won't run ? I have run agent ITO installed to server managment

Re: rpcd disable

Hi Jairo

The rpcd daemon (/opt/dce/sbin/rpcd) is used as part of DCE RPC communications. If you are using DCE then you need this to be running.

I can tell you that ITO (OVO) uses rpcd so you shouldn't disable it. I believe in future releases of ITO (OVO) there will no longer be a need to use DCE. For now you need rpcd to be running for ITO.

Re: rpcd disable

Jairo,

I will think twice before disabling this service. ITO agent. Measureware, Omniback, DPS etc., will fail. I read SD/UX uses rpcd but I could be able to install packages without this daemon running.

Measureware is the main kicker for me.

You may be disappointed if you fail, but you are doomed if you don't try
