Running Gnome

I have recently installed Gnome on an N-Class server which has no graphics card. When I start the daemon via /sbin/init.d/gdm.rc

The /var/opt/gnome/gdm/:0.log shows the following error
X server: Unable to parse /etc/X11/X0screens file.
X server: Will try default "/dev/crt"
Failure to open default device file `/dev/crt`.
Please either specify the proper device filename in
your /etc/X11/X0screens file or fix `/dev/crt`. This filename is either
non-existent or is not a character special file.

The /etc/X11/X0screens file contains
/dev/crt

How do I specify no local screen, as I want to run the X-session to my NT machine.

I did not get this problem when running CDE to my Windows NT machine.

Any ideas ?

Hi Paul.

Gnome 1.2 right ? If that's the case I suspect the same file will be true for both CDE and gnome ie Xservers ->

/etc/dt/config/Xservers copy it from /usr.the last line :

* Local local@console /usr/bin/X11/X :0 instructs the local xserver to start locally otherwise dtlogin will handle XDMCP requests from remote hosts
only.

BUT ....

a) gnome 1.2 is pretty bad wrt XDMCP connections/functionality ....

my advise would be wait a couple of weeks gnome 1.4 will be out v.shortly ... beta testing etc is over I think.
