rx2600 and shelf 4354
We have installed a rx2600 server and a shelf 4353 with 14 disk 146GB , the shelf have and I/O card with two channel , so the backplane is divided in to.
We are using two controller cards.
We are trying to configure a volume group and the weekend and when we came back on monday the system was trying to configure the volume group,
the OS is the last one ,
Some body have idea about what is going on?
Thank you

Re: rx2600 and shelf 4354
Some error messages would be useful.
Take a look at /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log
I'd say that the volume group configuration was incomplete or the configuration of the disk array was changed, after you finished.
Without error messages or A. Clay's psychic, we're going to need some more information to help.
ioscan -fnC disk

Re: rx2600 and shelf 4354
As Steven says, we need some additional info here. For instance, the rx2600 can run Linux, Windows, or HP-UX. From the words "volume group", I suspect we're talking HP-UX 11i v2 (11.23) here, but please confirm.
With a split bus chassis like you've got, you'll want to make sure that the LVM mirror partners are on opposite sides, using both buses (for fewer single points of failure).
How many disks are you using to make one VG (volume group)? The minimum you'll want to use is two, one from each bus.
In order to troubleshoot your problem, you may want to just create a very simple VG, with one disk. If you can do that, great, it eliminates lots of wierd and annoying possibilities. Go ahead and create a Logical Volume and a File System, and make sure you can mount it, all the normal stuff.
Then, using vgextend, add one disk to the VG from the other bus. If that goes OK, try mirroring the LV (lvextend, use the "-m 1" option to add one mirrored copy of the data). By default, LVM won't let the mirrored extents be on the same PV (physical volume, basically a disk drive in your situation). If that all goes OK, I have no idea why your vgcreate hung or whatever.
Get back to us with more details, and try some of these things, and we'll see where to go from here.
